Several years ago a buyer looked for a house and found one to her liking. She checked the inside, the roofing, the tap, electrical circuit, the rooms, lighting, flooring, doors with their locks, the gate. Everything was good. It was a house that was mortgaged and ready for forclosure. The repairs were expected. The house was bought.

Several months have gone by, they lived happily in the house without complaint. It was not until the first heavy rain poured. Monsoon rain continuously wet the area. It was only then that they realized that the place where the house was built on is a catch basin along that street. It got flooded to the point that the water went inside the house. Several stuff were damaged including a professional Canon camera with zoom lens. It was kept in a low cabinet which got wet by the flood.

Lesson learned: do not limit your scrutiny within the property you are buying, instead, ask also the neighborhood about flooding experience. Even if you are eyeing for kansas city homes for sale, or any other property for that matter, it will not hurt to ask around about the flooding experience in the area. It may actually save you from the great hassle.
